Men & their machines
It finally happened today at 9:53pm. I have been waiting for 9 years for this moment to come.
When I first bought my 2000 Jeep Wrangler it fell in love with me. It wanted to go everywhere I went. It was willing to take me into (and out of) some of the muddiest places I have ever been in. It has taken me and my wife on dates and to work everyday. It has been my faithful steed, always ready for the next adventure. I knew this moment would come. I kept thinking about it like a schoolboy waits for Santa, just to see him in person.
My Jeep has now finally safely carried me over 100,000 miles! Aside from regular maintenance and a few repairs from a couple of crashes (all not my fault) it has served me exceptionally well.
When I look at the Jeep I think of it as not just a means of transportation, but as a vessel that holds many memories, not unlike a photograph. Looking at the Jeep takes me back to different periods in my life, just like when I look at my wedding pictures. It is amazing how objects, such as Jeeps or pictures, touch us so deeply.
This is getting too deep, I’m outta here….
