Fenelon Place Elevator, Dubuque, Iowa

Claimed to be the world’s shortest and steepest senic railway.  Erected in 1882, the railway is 296 feet in length and lifts passengers 189 feet from 4th steet at the bottom to Fenelon Place at the top.  Thats a young girl looking out the window at me, not a ghost.  More info can be found on their website here.

More exploring in Dubuque, Iowa led us down into the old warehouse area of town.  This building is home of the Voices Warehouse Gallery.

While in Dubuque, Iowa shooting for Loras College, I had some time to wander around “The Key City” and take in the sites.  This town is amazing!  I love coming down here.

I will return to Appleton on September 30th.

Paper Valley Roller Girls

I had the great pleasure of getting to photograph some of the girls of the Paper Valley Roller Girls today.  Wow do these girls have energy and talent.

Warm-ups before practice.

Water break

We even had a little time for some impromptu portraits.

Then it’s back to the track.

If you would like to see some more derby girls practice session shots, you can check out more here.

Otherwise stay tuned as I continue to shoot for them throughout the season.

EAA AirVenture

I have been attending the Oshkosh Fly-in off and on ever since I was a small child.  Last year was the first year I went down with a camera and a mission to bring back some images.  This year I went back to do it again.  These are some of my favorite images from this year.

McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II

Bell Helicopter/Boeing Helicopter V-22 Osprey

The Osprey is the world’s first production tiltrotor aircraft.

Lockheed Martin/Boeing F-22 Raptor

“[The] F-22 will be the most outstanding fighter plane ever built.” Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, Chief of the Australian Defense Force, 2004.  If you have ever seen it flying you will agree.

Prandtl-Glauert singularities (vapor cones) caused by transonic flight.

A heritage flight featuring the F-22 Raptor, P-38 Lightning, and P-51 Mustang.

P-51 Mustang cockpit.

Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress ‘Aluminum Overcast’ flying during the warbirds airshow.

Nose Art.

North American B-25 Mitchell ‘Panchito’ preparing to leave on Sunday.

Oshkosh isn’t all about warbirds (but I think that is the best part).  The AeroShell demonstration team (flying North American AT-6 Texans) flys almost every day and does a great job of it too.

Formation flying.

Photo op with Harrison and a North American F-86 Sabre jet.

Beech 18 or Twin Beech relaxing in the sun.

I had the opportunity to sit in a Quad .50 mount.  Who could pass that up?

Leaving the grounds and getting ready for next year.

Andrew’s First Communion

At the end of March I had the privilege of shooting my first first communion. Andrew Olson is a great kid and I had a blast shooting the ceremony. It was held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Menasha with Pastor Dee Sim. I hope Andrew continues his walk with God and grows stronger in his relationship with the Lord each day.

Congratulations Andrew!

A slideshow of the day can be viewed by clicking here.
